Make this beautiful pomegranate & lime spritzer for your holiday gatherings. This recipe can be adjusted to serve just two people, or a crowd. Honey and fresh lime juice add the perfect touch of sweet and sour!

There are many ways to make the holidays special. One of those ways is with the menu, and that includes drinks! Whether or not you include alcohol really makes no difference…a fun drink will lighten the mood, and add a festive atmosphere to your celebration. With that in mind, I came up with a non-alcoholic holiday pomegranate and lime spritzer recipe that’s easy, fizzy, and totally refreshing.

What is a spritzer?

A spritzer is a cold drink usually made from wine and some sort of carbonated water. The carbonation, or spritz, can come from soda water, tonic water, sparkling water, or anything else that will make a fizz. The ratio for a wine spritzer is three parts wine to one part sparkling water. In order for a spritzer to be non-alcoholic, juice can be substituted for the wine. The same ratio can be used, but I have found that without the alcohol, equal parts of the juice and sparkling water works best.

How To Make

  • In a large pitcher, combine juice, sparkling water, and fresh lime juice.
  • Add honey and stir well.
  • Slice the remaining 1 1/2 limes into slices. Reserve a few lime slices for garnish.
  • Add lime slices & several sprigs of fresh mint to pitcher. Stir one more time.
  • Refrigerate until ready to serve.
  • Serve over ice. Garnish with lime slices, pomegranate seeds and/or fresh mint.

Pomegranate & Lime Spritzer Tips

  • This pomegranate & lime spritzer can be adjusted to serve fewer people. Simply use equal parts of the juice and sparkling water, then add the fresh lime juice and honey to taste.
  • If you’re serving just one or two people, the pitcher can be eliminated, and the drinks can be assembled right in the glass(es.)
  • Simple syrup, either bottled or homemade, can be substituted for the honey. To make simple syrup, heat equal parts of sugar and water on the stove. Bring to a boil, remove from the stove, and refrigerate until ready to use. (1 cup of sugar to 1 cup of water is the usual ratio.)
  • If you make simple syrup, and have some left over, use it to make sugared cranberries!
  • Simple syrup can also be found in the wine and mixer aisle of your grocery store.

Pomegranates, their juice, and their seeds will stain clothing and surfaces…so be careful if you are cutting into a whole pomegranate! The delicious, edible seeds, or arils, are a lovely garnish for this drink. It’s best to use a plastic cutting board to cut a pomegranate, but a little lemon juice or vinegar will remove the purple stain from a wooden one. It’s OK to cut a pomegranate in half, like I did for these photos, but it works better to cut them into vertical sections. For more on cutting pomegranates, click {HERE.}
