Let's get this week off to a great start

Welcome to the first Monday in June. I'm up early, I'm full of coffee, and I'm ready to pump out a solid Screencaps as Joe's vacation officially gets underway.

It's normally a day off for me, but as I've explained before, when Joe makes the call to the bullpen, I answer that call. That might not be the case for everyone, but he's on top of the list of those whose calls I make sure to pick up.

Today looks like it's going to shape up to be a decent day here in the Charlotte area. We're talking mid-80s and plenty of sunshine. It could be a day that I take the little one out to the pool.

We'll play that by ear. I'm not making any promises this morning. We have to see which version of my child is going to greet me first.

Enough about that for now. Let's get rolling on a Monday morning. The inbox is open - sean.joseph@outkick.com - fire away.

Edmonton is moving on

The Stanley Cup Final is set. The Florida Panthers took care of business on Saturday by sending the New York Rangers home with a Game 6 victory.

On Sunday night, it was the Edmonton Oilers turn. They topped the Dallas Stars in Game 6 of their series and have a chance to make history if they can take care of business against the Panthers.

Game 6 goals by Zach Hyman and Connor McDavid were obviously essential to the Oilers winning the Western Conference. But so was the Game 5 performance of an unknown Oilers fan.

She flashed her boobs during Game 5 and I don't want to say the series would have ended differently if she hadn't done that, but she rallied Oilers fans and added a bunch of fans to the bandwagon in the process.

You can't tell me that it didn’t help. If the Oilers end up winning the Stanley Cup, she absolutely deserves some public recognition, a ring, and a spot in the parade.

A repeat performance could be required depending on whether Edmonton drops a couple of early games or not. Some heroes wear capes, some celebrate in the stands by lifting their sweater.

Cosmic baseball looks awesome

Cosmic Baseball, as promised in early May, took place on Saturday between the Tri-City Chilli Peppers and the Greenbrier Knights. I have to admit I had my doubts when I first saw the promo clip for the game.

How would it actually play out and what would it look like? We got the answers to those questions over the weekend. While admittedly skeptical at first, I have to say Cosmic Baseball looks awesome.

Is it going to replace traditional baseball? Not anytime soon, but there could be a few leagues that throw a glow in the dark game on the schedule and cash in on a night of sideshow action.

Sign me up. I'll buy a ticket and eat some, hopefully, cosmic nachos and a cosmic hot dog or two.

Quick question about "Pups in the Park"

How do you navigate this without stepping in dog poop?

I have to imagine there are "accidents" all over the place during these kinds of events and I have to imagine that there are some tough areas to get around.

But hey, at least they were able to have this moment at the ballpark.

Worth it? Probably not if you're stuck scraping dog crap out of your New Balances.

teeball

- Chris B writes:

Good mornin!

I am going to suggest to you thesame thing that I did to Joe... if you want your kid to continue liking teeball/ baseball (or any sport for that matter)... do it with them. I didn't expect to be a coach when my son was the crying little guy on the side of the teeballfield at 4. But I started coaching him at 5, ended up coaching until he was 11, and now at 17 I sit in the bleachers and watch his high school games. I can't think of anything I've done more rewarding than coaching. Stick your toe in the water as an assistantcoach next season and I think you'll like it. I guarantee your son will love you doing it / being a part of it with him.

PS - well done today. I know it ain't yer first time, but that's a solid day 1 filling in.

Happy Sunday

SeanJo:

Thanks for the advice here, Chris. I have to admit that with my older two kids I wanted nothing to do with coaching, but that could change as the little one moves up the ranks.

I'm at least contemplating it now, which would have never happened before. We'll see if he's able to drag his old man onto the diamond to shape the youth on the baseball field.

I am not great at taking photos but these are beef ribs. The Green Egg is awesome. It isn't a stick burner but it isn't an easy bake oven like the pellet grills....

SeanJo:

Nice setup Allen. The Green Eggs are awesome. My brother has one and does some serious work whenever he breaks it out.

It's grilling season. Send your grilling content my way. What are we working with, and what do you have cooking on the grill? I want to see it.

That's it for the first Monday in June. As always, the inbox is open. Send me what you've got cooking on your grill this week and whatever else you want to sean.joseph@outkick.com.
